The Culinary Workers Union and Bartenders Union in Las Vegas reach a tentative agreement with Caesars
Thousands of Las Vegas hospitality workers who work for three major resort companies, Caesars, MGM Resorts International, and Wynn Resorts, declared earlier this month that they will strike if new contract agreements are not reached before the strike deadline. Workers approved strike authorization in September, and thousands of employees have participated in various walkouts that began in July. These hospitality workers are represented by the Culinary Workers Union and Bartenders Union, affiliates of Unite. The Culinary Workers Union and Bartenders Union recently agreed on a new tentative contract with Caesars, and the unions have announced that strike action at Caesars locations has been called off. Negotiations between the unions and Caesars lasted for 20 hours, and the tentative contract will cover 10,000 Caesars employees. MGM Resorts International and Wynn Resorts will negotiate with the unions later this week, and if tentative agreements are reached before the end of this week, strike action will be avoided. The Las Vegas Grand Prix will occur next week, and potential strike action by MGM Resorts International workers and Wynn Resorts workers will negatively impact tourist services and accommodations.
