The Death of a Dunkin? Donuts Worker who had 3 Jobs Shows How Hard it is to Live on Minimum Wage
Maria Fernandes of Newark, NJ, an employee of Dunkin? Donuts, died while napping in her car when a gasoline can in the trunk fell over and filled the car with fumes. Fernandes worked at three separate Dunkin' Donuts locations and only had two to three hours to nap in her car. She needed to work 52 hours a week at the minimum wage of $8.25 to make the minimum living wage cost of Newark of $22,528 a year.
