The Federation of Norwegian Industries and Norwegian labor union reach tentative agreement regarding wage increase
Employers in Norway and the largest private-sector Norwegian labor union have reached a deal regarding worker wages. Workers represented by the Fellesforbundet union were planning to take strike action if an agreement was not reached. The Federation of Norwegian Industries and the union agreed on a pay increase of 5.2%, and the deal was reached with the help of a state moderator. The Norwegian central bank is predicting that wages will increase by 4.9% in 2024, and the union was seeking a wage increase greater than the projected growth in prices in Norway. The Fellesforbundet union represented thousands of Norwegian workers in the manufacturing sector. The manufacturing industry faces competition with companies from other countries, and the wage increase takes into account this competition. The tentative agreement regarding pay increases in the manufacturing industry will likely influence wage negotiations in other industries.
