The Great Resignation describes the significant turnover in specific industries in recent years
Various industries have experienced a significant efflux of employees in recent years, as workers leave to seek higher-paying jobs in other sectors. The trend has been labeled the “Great Resignation”, and the industries that have been most impacted by this trend are the trucking and personal care services industries. The height of the trend occurred in 2022 during the COVID-19 pandemic, and over four million workers were quitting their jobs and switching industries each month. The most affected industries tend to require in-person work, and industries that have been struggling with worker shortages. Companies in these industries have begun to raise wages, to increase retention rates and to attract workers who are considering switching jobs.
