The labor union of Seoul National University Hospital will go on a general strike from the 17th
Almost 3,500 members of the Seoul National University Hospital union voted overwhelmingly (93%) to strike beginning September 17 following failed negotiations on staffing, real wage increases, and scrapping the incentive pay system for doctors. The union wants more staff on night shifts, conversion of temporary workers to regular roles, and adoption of a 1-to-7 nurse-to-patient ratio at affiliated hospitals. Impatience is growing: spokespeople warn that without resolution, additional national university hospitals may join a coordinated strike.
