The Wing Cofounder Issues Apology for Insensitive Comments
The Wing founder and former CEO Audrey Gelman has recently apologized for helping to create an unwelcoming work environment for Black women and women of color. Gelman on Wednesday posted a screenshot on Instagram of an apology email she sent to Flew the Coup, a group of former The Wing employees and members who said they experienced racist and anti-LGBTQIA harm and discrimination at the company. Last June Gelman stepped down from her role as CEO after employees staged a digital walkout. The main goal of the digital walkout was to criticize The Wing for not practicing the intersectional feminism that it often preaches.
