The Workers Defense Project, a Union in Spirit
The Workers Defense Project has emerged as a successful advocate for the rights of workers, primarily in the Texan construction industry. This organization, and the work they have done in insisting upon lawful minimums for wages and care, is a microcosmic example of the necessary demands of workers in recent years and the emerging need for projects that prevent deplorable working conditions. The center is largely comprised of, and provides care for, immigrant labor. These working centers do not discriminate against unauthorized labor and are proving to be a new corner stone in labor reform for a previously unreachable group of the workforce.
