European countries have laws requiring companies to offer employees four to five weeks vacation time, but many employees end up getting much more because of collective bargaining agreements or other compensation agreements. The U.S. and Australia do not have national minimum requirements for vacation time. In Europe, vacation is considered an investment in the workforce so employees stay healthy.
