The Yelp Employee Who Wasn’t Making Enough Money to Eat
On Friday afternoon, a former Yelp employee, Talia Ben-Ora, decided to post an open letter to an executive at the company stating that she was not earning enough money to keep from going hungry. According to Ben-Ora, she was only earning $733 biweekly and couldn't afford to live in the San Francisco area. In her letter, she expressed concern over how the company treated its employees. Just hours after the letter was posted, Ben-Ora was fired from her job. Ben-Ora was not given a reason for being fired although the company denies it had anything to do with the letter.
