According to the Department of Labor’s latest Job Openings and Labor Turnover survey, there were 11.3 million job openings in January. The total number of people who quit their jobs went down to 2.9% of the labor force, which is down from a record high in November, but still elevated. One expert said that the rate of hiring remains higher than the rate that folks are quitting in any industry which indicates that people are moving to better jobs in the same industry when they quit rather than switching careers or leaving the workforce.
