Thousands balk at overtime revamp
The U.S. Department of Labor received an impressive response to their invitation for public comment about the proposed changes to federal overtime regulations. Critics warn that under the new regulations as many as 8 million white-collar workers could lose overtime pay, because overtime pay will be eliminated for white-collar workers paid over $65,000 a year. Workers who fall below this income level could also lose the right to overtime pay, because of revised job duties that give employers more discretion over whether to pay overtime.
