Thousands of Canadian workers in the Quebec Province set to strike in early November
Thousands of workers in Quebec, Canada are planning to go on strike next month, and strike action is planned to begin on November 6th for public sector workers and November 9th for healthcare workers. Public sector workers such as social service workers, teachers, and educational staff announced earlier this month that they will begin strike action on November 6th and will continue to strike on isolated days until a contract agreement is reached. The Common Front is made up of four different unions that represent public sector workers and is the organization in negotiations with the Canadian government. Healthcare workers stated last week that they are planning to join the strike action, citing poor working conditions and low wages. The interprofessional healthcare union claims that the Canadian government is not valuing healthcare workers enough and that the proposed wage increases are not enough to pay workers what they rightfully deserve.
