Thousands of Disney union workers voting today on contract
Thousands of workers at Walt Disney World will vote on a contract for the second time. The workers are represented by the Service Trades Council, a coalition of six unions. Together they represent around 20,800 Disney workers. The previous contract was rejected in October. The only significant difference between the two contracts is an extra $100 bonus. While the leadership of the Service Trades Council approved the contract, the United Food and Commercial Workers and Unite Here! are urging members to vote against the contract, saying that the raises are not equally distributed or enough to cover increased health care costs.
