Thousands of Mexican migrant agriculture workers owed back pay by US, causing Department of Labor to launch new program with Mexican government to locate and compensate these workers
According to a combined announcement between US Labor Department and Mexico, a new program will be launched to find and compensate thousands of Mexican migrant workers who are owed back pay. This program will be called the H-2 Workers' Wages Recovery Program, and it aims to pay Mexican workers who participated in various temporary foreign worker programs and performed essential work on US farms. The US Labor Department found that millions of dollars in wages were owed when it was unable to find the workers to send the checks to. As a result, the US plans to send a list of names of the workers who are owed wages to Mexico, and the Mexican government is expected to find the workers in their databases and tell them about the checks to which they are entitled.
