Thousands of nurses in California go on strike
On Monday, nearly 5,000 nurses in Palo Alto, CA went on strike. Nurses at Stanford Healthcare and the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital authorized a strike by 93% after the expiration of their previous labor contract on March 31st. The Committee for Recognition of Nursing Achievement, the union representing the nurses, says they gave the hospital notice that they intended to strike on April 13th. These nurses want better pay, more staffing, and more mental health support to combat the burnout and exhaustion plaguing their profession. No end date has been announced but representatives from the union and the hospital are set to meet on Tuesday.
