Threatened by AI and lack of transparency from CNET management, tech news company employees are unionizing
At the tech news company CNET, workers are unionizing due to the company's use of AI and lack of transparency. Recently, it was discovered that CNET had published articles written by AI rather than its own writers without disclosing this to workers, and these articles had contained numerous errors. Additionally, there has been ongoing restructuring occurring at the company and layoffs, which have negatively impacted employee morale alongside management's lack of accountability. As a result, the workers are unionizing with the goals of protecting their standards of work and maintaining the integrity of CNET. The workers are hoping to create the CNET Media Workers Union as a part of the Writers Guild of America, East.
