Tootsie Roll Industries faces a $136,000 OSHA fine
An employee at Tootsie Roll Industries had his finger cut off by a machine on April 19th. OSHA held an investigation and cited the company on September 24th for a safety violation. OSHA said the “employer allowed bypassed safety locks on a machine's access doors that enabled a bag sealer to close on an employee's finger.” OSHA has recommended the company pay a penalty of $136,532. The company has 15 business days to pay the penalty, request a meeting with OSHA, or contest the citation with an independent OSHA commission.
