Top-level talks aim to end GM spat
Representatives from the Canadian Auto Workers union and General Motors were to meet Tuesday in Toronto to defuse tension over the proposed closing of the company's Oshawa truck plant. The meeting comes after a 12-day blockade of GM's Canadian headquarter by the CAW was lifted by a judge's order. Although the meeting is a good sign that tensions will cease, union representatives said they are not optimistic about affecting the plant's future closing.
