Total Meets Unions to End French Refinery Strike
Management of Total SA will meet with union leaders to try and negotiate an end to strikes at it's French refinery. The six-day strike has virtually stopped oil refinement at most other Total plants and statements from industry officials say that France only has enough oil for the next seven to ten days if production does not start soon. The strike is protesting the planned shutdown of Total's plant in Flanders. Total has agreed to hold meetings regarding the plant's future on March 8, earlier than expected. Total has repeatedly made statements saying that no other French plants will be closed and all workers at the Flanders refinery will have jobs somewhere else in the company.
