Toyota, Honda, Nissan Japan Unions Ask for More Pay
Reacting to forecasted higher earnings this year, unions representing Japan's three largest automotive manufacturers are asking for a salary increase and bonus package. Union representatives for Honda, Toyota and Nissan all released salary increase proposals which included a 1,000-1,500 yen monthly bump and up to 2.5 million yen in bonuses to be distributed among workers. The auto companies are expected to respond cautiously to the surprising upturn in earnings, which could result in workers receiving less than they would like.
