Track and field athletes to unionize
On Friday, track and field athletes announced that they would be attempting to unionize. The group, which includes some of the most recognizable athletes in the sport, said that they would fight against rules prohibiting promotion of private sponsors, as well as prize money and other changes. Track and field athletes say that many of them hold two or three jobs in order to train for the Olympics, but are unable to reap the benefits of competing due to Olympic rules. The athletes say that one of the most important things for them is to have a voice.
