Tracking Sensors Invade the Workplace
As companies try to find out the best ways for workers to do their jobs, some are turning to sensors to record movements. Workers are equipped with devices that record their movements and tones of voice, the data on which can be studied to find best practices. Some companies say that changes that were made as a result of the data helped to boost productivity by 10% or more. Some say that the sensors may be seen as an invasion of privacy by employees, but others say that those concerns can be addressed. The bigger problem, experts say, is making sure companies understand the data they receive and use it to make effective changes.
