Trade unions in France go on strike seeking salary increases amidst high inflation
In France, teachers and transport workers, such as bus drivers and nuclear industry workers, have taken to the streets to strike in favor of salary raises amidst rising inflation and prices. This labor action also reflects many unions' opposition of French president Emanuel Macron's plan to increase the retirement age and change the pension system. The French government argues it has already given wage increases to public employees, including teachers. However, the trade unions claim that more needs to be done as wage erosion worsens with continuing inflation.
