Trader Joe’s Employee Claims He was Fired for Requesting Better Covid Protections
Ben Bonnema says he was dismissed after writing a letter to company’s CEO calling for a series of safety measures for workers. His letter called for limits to store capacity based on CO2 levels and a “three strikes policy” for customers who refuse to wear a mask. He also requested that nobody be allowed into the store without wearing a mask and for information about the air filtration systems. After sending the letter, Bonnema was terminated for failure to share company values. Bonnema plans to fight the termination and to present his case to the National Labour Relations Board.
