Transit unions call for the enforcement of infrastructure law to protect workers
A group of transit unions sent a letter on Wednesday to the Federal Transit Administration demanding the enforcement of infrastructure law to protect workers. In November 2021 President Biden signed into law a bipartisan infrastructure bill with provisions that were meant to protect workers as assaults on transit trended. In the letter signed by the Amalgamated Transit Union, AFL-CIO’s Transportation Trades Department, and the Transport Workers Union, they said “It has now been almost four months since the passage of the BIL and transit workers have continued to face the threat of violence in the workplace.”
