Transit Workers' Union Leader Refuses to Rule Out Subway Strike
The president of the union that represents New York City's subway and bus workers has refused to rule out a strike later this month as he rejected most of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's contract demands. With the contract for nearly 34,000 transit workers set to expire at 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 16, the union head warned that a strike was possible even though state law prohibits work stoppages by transit workers.
