Transit Workers Voting on Contract That Ended SEPTA Strike
Voting on the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority’s contract will continue through 7pm today. The SEPTA strike had paralyzed Philly’s public transportation for a week until a deal was struck last Monday. Union President Willie Brown urged his members to ratify the agreement and to ignore false reports that are trying to sway members to vote down the deal. The SEPTA workers will receive a 10.5% boost in wages, a “Cadillac” status health care plan, and up to 15.2% in pension increases. The results could be published later tonight.
