Truckers at Yellow call off strike action as an agreement is reached
Unionized workers at the trucking company Yellow threatened to strike last week over disputes regarding employee health benefits. Yellow requested an order in federal court to block strike action, stating that worker walkouts would bankrupt the company, but a federal judge denied this request. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters union represents Yellow truckers, and the union stated that Yellow was planning on delaying payments to the Central States Health and Welfare Fund, which funds worker health benefits. Yellow planned on delaying payments because the company is dealing with large burdens of debt and decreasing cash reserves. Teamsters and the Central States Health and Welfare Fund reached an agreement over the weekend, preventing strike action.
