Trump meets with union president amid conflict over health care
President Trump met with Richard Trumka, President of the AFL-CIO, yesterday to discuss wages, trade, and infrastructure. Hours after the meeting, Trumka publicly announced his disapproval of the Republican’s health care plan. Many of Trumka’s union members voted for Trump in November, but Trumka believes the new health care plan will result in millions losing coverage, working families being burdened by higher taxes, cuts to Medicaid, and a “massive transfer of wealth for working people to Wall Street”.
