Trump’s Labor Pick, Andrew Puzder, Is Critic of Minimum Wage Increases
Yesterday, President-elect Donald Trump tapped Andrew Puzder to be the next secretary of labor. Puzder, who has publicly denounced the Obama administration’s worker protection plans, is the chief executive of CKE, a fast food franchisor. Puzder is against the recent expansion of overtime eligibility, sick leave policies for federal contractors, and increasing the minimum wage. Additionally, he supports the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and the automation of jobs. The president of the AFL-CIO described Puzder as a businessman who is “defined by fighting against working people.”
