Two Pennsylvania hospitals reach contract agreements with Service Employees International Union Healthcare Pennsylvania
Allegheny Valley hospital in Pennsylvania recently reached a tentative agreement with the Service Employees International Union Healthcare Pennsylvania, the union representing nurses and other employees at the hospital. Unionized workers successfully voted to ratify the contract, and wages will increase and employee benefits will improve. Before the two parties agreed on the tentative contract, workers voted in favor of strike authorization. Workers at a West Penn hospital, a nearby hospital represented by the same union, took similar action and voted to authorize strike action. Shortly after the strike action was authorized, a tentative contract between West Penn Hospital and the union was reached as well.
