Tyson Foods is giving out $50 million in bonuses to its workers
Tyson Foods will be paying out about $50 million in year-end bonuses to their frontline and hourly meatpacking workers. The meatpacking industry was hit hard by the pandemic as about 59,000 workers contracted COVID-19 through January at Tyson plants and its competitors. These bonuses will be given to 86,000 eligible employees and will range from $300 to $700. Tyson has also spent more than $500 million in wage increases and bonuses over the past year and their total compensation tops $24.00 an hour in efforts attract and retain employees.
