U.A.W.’s Tentative Deal With Ford Tops Other Automaker Contracts
On Monday, leaders of the United Automobile Workers union proposed a new labor agreement for employees of Ford Motor Company. Soon 52,000 Ford employees will have the opportunity to vote on this labor agreement. The pay increases included in the agreement are similar to those in the Fiat Chrysler and G.M. contracts, however new union hires will now receive a $8,500 signing bonus. The agreement also includes a clause that Ford must invest $9 billion in plants in the United States, which has the potential to create 8,500 new jobs.
