U.S. Labor Chief Tries to Calm Fiat Chrysler Worker Fears
Three weeks ago, Fiat Chrysler along with the United Auto Workers union tentatively agreed on a new four year contract, however when this decision was taken to a vote, the employees strongly rejected the new proposal. On Monday, negotiations picked up again with the UAW trying to secure better benefits for its representatives while Fiat Chrysler tries to keep overall costs down. Employees are concerned that the UAW may push them toward a voluntary employees beneficiary association (VEBA), however the union strongly denies this.
