U.S. labor market prior to COVID-19
Following two months of downturn, the U.S. labor market began to strengthen in January as job openings increased. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus outbreak the labor market progress that was made last month has been outshone. The pandemic has already led to disrupted economic activity. Economists anticipate that the outbreak will be accompanied by layoffs and a recession.
