U.S. Set for a Crackdown on Illegal Hiring
The Department of Homeland Security will announce new, tougher rules for business employing illegal immigrants, including requiring employers to fire workers with false Social Security numbers. Federal authorities had held off instituting the new rules while awaiting the fate of an extensive new immigration bill in Congress. While the new policies are expected to satisfy most conservatives, the measure will place added pressure from businesses to provide legal status for the over 6 million illegal immigrants currently working in the United States.
