UAW moves to hold union election at Ford joint venture plant
Employees at a Ford factory in Kentucky have submitted a petition to unionize to the National Labor Relations Board, backed by the United Auto Workers. The workers are seeking to improve working conditions at the plant, specifically with regards to the chemicals they work with. BlueOval SK, the company that co-owns the factory with Ford, has countered that the petition is too soon, as only 750 of the needed 5000 employees have been officially hired, and the move to unionize should wait until the entire workforce is present.
