UAW seeks exclusive status at Volkswagen Chattanooga
The United Auto Workers is continuing its campaign to be the sole bargaining representative of workers at Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant, despite ongoing resistance from the automaker. The UAW is proposing to create a works council with VW, similar to those at plants in Europe. While Volkswagen states it's still open to meeting with UAW's Local 42 regarding representation, it's also advancing a policy that would allow the 816 workers at the plant to choose representation from multiple groups.
