UAW strikes on the Big 3 Automakers push the companies to temporarily layoff workers
The Big 3 Automakers have announced plans to temporarily lay off workers at various plants around the country due to the United Auto Workers strikes. Stellantis furloughed workers at the company’s Toledo plant, claiming that the plant has run out of storage space, and production will be paused for machine parts at this factory. General Motors has temporarily laid off 2,000 workers at a plant in Kansas, as the UAW targeted strike on a plant in Missouri results in supply shortages that stall operations at the Kansas factory. Ford has furloughed 600 workers in Michigan due to the same issue, as operations at specific factories will shut down due to supply shortages. The United Auto Workers union announced that workers affected by the temporary layoffs will be added to the strike fund payrolls, to ensure that these workers will have the necessary funds to support themselves and their families.
