UAW workers vote for direct elections
UAW workers have voted to switch to a direct election model from their previous method of a delegate system for leadership elections. 63.7% of the members voted in favor of the direct voting system while 36.3% voted to keep the status quo. The court appointed monitor for this required election will confirm with the UAW and draft amendments to the union's constitution. The next UAW election will be held under these new rules for the union's president, secretary, treasurer, vice presidents, and regional directors.
