UAW's King Says Workers Must Share in Auto Turnaround
The United Auto Workers says that it will seek a share in automakers' profits after making concessions to help the companies during the recession. The UAW says that each member gave concessions somewhere between $7,000 and $30,000 since 2005. The contracts between the UAW and automakers will expire in September, but the union says that they are already discussing options to reward members. The UAW is also planning an organizing drive for foreign automakers like Toyota, Honda and Nissan, and they say they are willing to publicly battle the companies for fair union elections.
