UCSF employees take strike action due to administration allegedly not bargaining in good faith
Thousands of employees at two of University of California-San Francisco’s campuses have been on strike this week. Unionized workers at the UCSF Parnassus campus and the Mission Bay campus are represented by the University Professional and Technical Employees - Communications Workers of America Union, and the union has been in contract negotiations with university administration since June. The union provides representation to over three thousand employees, and these employees work in various divisions: research, patient care, health care, service, and technical. The union claims that UCSF has not bargained in good faith and has used unfair labor practices, and filed a claim with the California Public Employment Relations Board. Thousands of other medical care and service workers in the UC system are also on strike this week, and are represented by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Union. These employees are on strike at various UC campuses and medical centers, including UCSF campuses as well.
