UK setback on working hours rule
The European Commission has agreed to consider ending the United Kingdom?s exemption from the 48 hour workweek rule as part of the Commission?s review of the European Working Time Directive. The British government and the Trades Union Congress have been at odds over the issue with the TUC advocating abolishment of the exemption.
