The number of unemployed in the United Kingdom jumped to 1.64 million between February and April, an increase of 38,000 that brought the nation's unemployment rate to 5.3%. While this was just one of several economic indicators that took a downturn in recent months, experts did note that the number of UK citizens who are working has actually been rising.
