Union Action at Scottish Refinery Could Escalate
A Scottish refinery's future is threatened by a limited industrial action that began Monday, states owner Ineos. The action started after the company proposed a ?survival plan" which included cuts to pensions and requests to Britain and Scotland for support to keep the plant running. The labor union, Unite, says it is willing to discuss the company?s plans for the plant, but first must have the company resolve several union complaints against it. The company says that it has been losing close to 10 million pounds each month that it has operated the refinery.
