Union-backed Lyft drivers object to $27-million settlement
Lyft, a ride-hailing company similar to Uber, is facing backlash from its California drivers and the Teamsters union in regards to its $27 million settlement offer. The settlement received preliminary approval from U.S. District Court Judge Vince Chhabria, but in recent letters to the judge, the drivers argue that the settlement amount is not enough and are unhappy with the fact that the settlement does not address the issue of whether the drivers are independent contractors or employees. Lyft has yet to be profitable, and the settlement came after a previous offer of $12 million was rejected earlier this year.
