Union Calls For Foreign Profits Tax To Fund Health Reform
Unions are calling for tax increases on multinational enterprises in order to fund healthcare reforms in the U.S. Backing the deal is the AFL-CIO, who will attend a Senate meeting on the matter today. The tax changes, initially proposed by President Obama, would raise an additional $210 billion in revenue for the government. Union leaders are urging other tax increases as well, most of which were been put forth by the Obama administration yesterday. The Service Employees International Union has also expressed support for the proposed tax changes.
