Union ends 36-hour strike at Suriname gold mine run by Canada-based Iamgold
A gold mine in the Republic of Suriname has just come off a 36 hour operations-halting strike. The dispute was centered around management's move to lengthen the work day to over 14 hours. Canadian based Iamgold Corp. only agreed to negotiations once the workers had resumed production. This mine is one of Surname's largest employers.
