Union files unfair labor charge against newspaper company amid 13 percent news staff cut
The Northern California Media Workers Guild has filed unfair labor practice charges against a group of San Francisco-area newspapers following the layoff of some union organizers two weeks ago amid a 13 percent staff cut. As typical newspaper readers have more and more used the internet to obtain their news, papers are having to cut jobs in response to their plummeting circulation numbers. However, the union claims that the managers chose to lay off particular workers in this case due to their union activity.
