The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) which represents approximately 4,500 workers within the Oregon University System was set to strike on September 23 if a new contract had not been signed. The strike deadline has been pushed back to September 30 in hopes that the parties can resolve wage issues. The university is identifying ways to ensure that the academic year, which start September 30, would proceed as planned should an impasse be reached.
